The Pathways to Perennials Story

Pathways to Perennials is the result of a family adventure in garden and landscape design that began more than 30 years ago.

Armand and Lorraine Mennen purchased eleven acres of woodlands and meadow in King’s Olympic horse township, a site blessed with every growing condition available in our zone 4 climate. Endowed with the boundless optimism of their long-term, 100-year plan, this couple overcame the trepidations of starting a new enterprise and set to work.

Today their home-site sits comfortably in the tiny valley of Pottageville, just seconds from the Oak Ridge Moraine and a convenient 4 km from Highway 400. Sitting quite flat amongst the sculpted hills of King, the Mennen family has rescued animals, installed children’s double-decker tree forts, and inspired thousands of families to landscape ecologically. Their award winning landscape design centre allows homeowners a chance to experience first- hand what it means to live well in the great outdoors.

Their adventure is still far from over: along the way, the Mennens have created a successful second generation of professional landscape gardeners. For the sheer mad intoxication of it, they are now entering business with the third generation (albeit still in diapers).
